Observatory: A Retrospective
Rasathane: Retrospektif
The recent exhibition of Barbara and Zafer Baran's work at Istanbul Museum of Modern Art was the artists' first retrospective. Curated by Sena Cakirkaya, head of Istanbul Modern's photography department, Observatory included selections from 11 of the Barans' series, from 1999 to 2013 - many previously unseen, and encompassing both in-camera and camera-less techniques, as well as video work.
In addition to most of the series listed in the navigation bar (please cick on individual titles to view), the exhibition included selected works from Weeds, Metropolis and Observatory (below). A fully illustrated catalogue was published to accompany the exhibition.
